Localization is the process of adapting product or service for a specific region or language by adding locale-specific components and translated text. At Eminent Technology Solutions, we take care of the following types of adaptations necessary to successfully localize an IT/ ITES product & application, Linguistics : It involves translation of the UI text . It also includes all underlying linguistic functionality, such as help files, interactions requiring text and entry by users. Substantive : Involves modifying the substance of the UI text for local user. Such modifications are necessary when the UI text or parts of it are locale-specific. Cultural : Involves contextualizing the UI text for a specific culture. Cultural adaptation requires an understanding of the target culture on issues that are usually not well documented. Each locale has its own specific languages, cultural and social conventions, legal standards, and preferences that must be met in order to achieve acceptance. Localization includes translating text, adapting graphics, and changing the data and functionality of a software user’s interface.
